Celebrate This Valentines Day

Valentines Day is also referred to as Saint Valentines Day. It is a day which is celebrated in most countries and is celebrated on February 14 every year. On this particular day, generally love notes are exchanged by way of 'valentines'. This could resemble symbols like doves, Cupid or heart-shaped figures.

According to some Catholic version, there was a saint who was named 'Valentine' and was martyred in Africa with his few companions. The famous Valentine symbol is 'Cupid' and has a figure of boy armed with arrows as well as piercing hearts. The significance of arrow is desire and love emotions. Today these arrows have become a love sign and the day is celebrated with great pomp.

Many observe this day as lovers day, the day on which lovers shower their feelings of love for each other. The love is expressed in the form of exchange of Valentines Day cards or giving flowers or offering sweets. In the earlier days, Valentines Day was celebrated with handwritten notes. But with the advancement of science and age, it has given way to greeting cards. After greeting cards, came roses and chocolates which are nowadays being exchanged on this day. In some countries, gifts like jewelry are also given.

In many countries like USA, Canada, UK, Italy, France, Germany, Valentines Day is extremely popular and it is observed as a holiday. The love is not only restricted to lovers but also amongst every section of people. The day is celebrated with exchange of valentine gifts, chocolates, greeting cards, roses and candies. Dance parties as well as dinners are organized to celebrate the occasion. There are various programs in schools and colleges as well as parties are organized. Everywhere you can see sweets and candies with 'heart shaped' figures with a red ribbon tied around.

Valentine Day is a day on which you express your love and also celebrate love.

NFL Predictions 2008 - 2009

It's easy to pick the Giants, Cowboys, Patriots, or Colts. I am sure they won't all falter this year and some upcoming teams are ready to challenge. The NFL powerhouses are due for a fall. After all, the Giants had a second place division finish and made the predictable - unpredictable again. You have to love the chances of the Vikings, Saints, Bills, Browns, Jaguars, and Raiders. They will be the most improved teams who could challenge for it all.

2008 National Football Conference

NFC EAST

Dallas - Runs away from this division. Runs all the way to the Conference final. Romo falls for Vikings cheerleader who spikes Vikes Gatorade with Ex-Lax.

NY Giants - Sometimes everything falls into place. This year they will struggle to be a Wild Card and then it's all over for repeating.

Washington - Improved team, Enough to beat the Giants in the Wild Card game.

Philadelphia - Just don't have all the pieces in place.

NFC NORTH

Minnesota - Purple offensive monsters crush Dallas in the Conference final for a Super Bowl birth. Ex Lax makes them run faster.

Green Bay - Good all around strength but not good enough this year.

Detroit - How can a team go on and on without a quality quarterback?

Chicago - How can a team go on and on without a quality quarterback?

NFC SOUTH

New Orleans - Will be more consistent this year. Brees has a great year and defense picks it up a notch.

Carolina - Too much expectation and not consistent enough.

Tampa Bay - Boring. Boring. Boring.

Atlanta - Do they send the rejects here or are they created here?

NFC WEST

Seattle - Very well-rounded team. Could go all the way.

Arizona - Please change the name of the team to the Desert Rams.

St. Louis - Please change the name of the team to the Cardinals.

San Francisco - Please change the team.

2008 American Football Conference

AFC EAST

New England - Easy schedule poor training for playoffs. Bill Belichick is hung in effigy after Pats get bumped out by Jags.

Buffalo - Young defense gets monster-like. Will lose the Conference final to the Jags breaking the hearts of Buffalo fans again.

NY Jets - Not Brets fault but Farve gets carved with hapless Jets. Fans want everyone fired or executed.

Miami - The Tuna, the Dolphins, Ricky Williams. This is a very cheap version of a junior Cowboy team. Can somebody spell
Q u a r t e r b a c k?

AFC NORTH

Cleveland - A year away from going all the way. They should watch old Browns black and white movies with Carlings Black Label commercials. Fake like they are hurt and kill guys like Jim Brown did.

Pittsburgh - Can look great - and then very average. Browns overtake them.

Cincinnati - Carson Palmer should demand a trade. Great talent on overrated team.

Baltimore - Locker room poison begins to flourish. Good team - no chemistry.

AFC SOUTH

Jacksonville - Defensive monsters go all the way to Conference Final.

Indianapolis - Not enough Marvin Harrison or Defense. Payton bring them back - next year.

Tennessee - Good team with ugly uniforms. Should watch old John Hadl Charger films. No passing - no playoffs.

Houston - Improved defense and team with very cool uniforms gets steadily better but not good enough yet.

AFC WEST

San Diego - Look for a little losing streak to start the finger pointing.

Oakland - Everyone will hate them. Except the Raider Nation. Now if they only had Lamonica.

Denver - Continues to dive. Jay Cutler would take Green Bay a long way but not this team.

Kansas City - Abner Haynes returns. These are not the Super Chiefs.

AFC - Jacksonville over Buffalo - as Bills miss controversial two point conversion to win it. Fans destroy Wilson stadium forcing the Bills to become the Toronto Maple Leafs.

NFC - Vikings over Cowboys - in a romp. Cowboys immediately trade Romo to the Dolphins for the Tuna. Jerry Jones gets face lift and now looks like Joan Rivers. Little Bum Phillips is elected coach of the year for putting up with more crap than any coach in history.

Super Bowl -Halftime show is Michael Phelps swimming 14 consecutive 200m swims across Tampa Stadium. Raiders Al Davis signs him as a tight end.
Tarvaris Jackson is injured as time winds down with the Jags up on the Vikes by 6. Gus Frerotte leads game ending drive as the Minnesota Vikings win the Super Bowl. Adrian Peterson gains 200 yds. with 3 TD's to become MVP.

Renting Your Home For the Super Bowl

If you own a property near Tampa, remember that Super Bowl XLIII happens on February 1, 2009 in Tampa Bay. This is a great opportunity for Tampa homeowners to make some extra income and vacation rental owners to book an extra week or two at a premium price. Here's what to do after a potential renter has expressed interest in your home:

So You've Got a Renter...

The first thing to do upon receiving an inquiry from a potential renter is to contact that person. It's easiest to do this by email, but it's also a good idea to do it by phone. Whichever first-contact method you choose, you'll want to speak with potential renters over the phone before sending anyone a contract.

Once you screen your prospective guest to your satisfaction, go ahead and send them a short-term rental agreement. There are many sample forms available online that you can reference. Make sure the contract includes clauses about house rules, penalties for damages to the property, and details about how guests can place and get back their security deposit.

Security deposits for vacation rentals generally run 10% of the total cost of renting the home. After the renter puts down the money, you can start collecting the actual rental payment. There are two ways to make this process easier for both you and your future guest: installments and credit cards.

Sometimes paying in installments works better with people's budgets, especially if they are paying a pretty penny to stay in your home. However, you'll want to collect the full amount before their check-in day. In fact, the safest practice is to try to have the money in your bank account at least one month in advance. Credit cards make it possible for a renter to pay you immediately without the hassle of writing and mailing a check. It also confirms the booking right away. To accept credit card payments, you may need to set up a PayPal account. PayPal is an online service that facilitates credit card transactions.

Personal checks are fine to accept as methods of payment, but keep in mind that they can be slow. Renters will need to mail the check, you will have to cash it, and then it can take a while for the check to clear. For this reason, try to give checks a couple weeks of cushion. Remember, you should not give anyone access to your home before collecting the total payment in full.

No matter how much fun your guests have at the Super Bowl, they should leave on the checkout date specified in the rental contract. After inspecting your property for damages, you can return the security deposit. If you find damages, send your former guests copies of receipts for the cost of repairs. Keep the originals in case of legal action.

How to Advertise

Arranging a guest's stay may be all well and good, but you have to get their attention and their booking first. The good news is that marketing to football fans may not be as hard as making an 80 yard run:

Online advertising can be an effective way to reach prospective renters. However, free sites are not always the best option (no matter how tempting they may be) because they sometimes lack credibility. The best bet is to stick with genuine vacation rental portal sites. Although these sites come with a fee, the income you can earn from a potential booking easily covers the fee and should leave you with a profit. Even more importantly, this type of backing boosts your credibility and gives your whole operation an air of professionalism.

On the flip side, reputable sites have lots of rental listings so your property will likely have some competition. Someone wading through a list of available homes could make their decision based wholly on how well you present your home on your listing page. Here are some tips for designing a solid vacation rental listing page:

- Make your home stand out by including phrases in the title and description advertising your home as available for Super Bowl weekend.
- Consider offering specials to potential guests as a way to catch their eye.
- Use clear, attractive photos to show your home in the best possible light. Even people looking for the best deal appreciate comfortable lodging.
- Enhance your professionalism by being upfront about your rates, fees, and property location.
- Try to respond promptly to inquiries in a polite and forthcoming manner to make a good impression. Studies show that when a vacation rental owner responds to a traveler's inquiry within three hours, they are twice as likely to seal the booking.

Additional Considerations:

You can usually get a good idea of a pricing range for your home by checking out other Tampa area short-term rentals and hotels. Try to look at places similar to your home in size, amenities, and distance to the stadium. This will give you a rough estimate of what is normal for the area and then you can adjust the rates depending on perks you offer or lack.

If you have tickets to the game or want to attend the festivities too, you may consider renting out just one room of your house. Going this route would limit the amount you could charge, but you get to stay and enjoy Super Bowl weekend. Staying in town may be a good idea anyway because either you or someone you trust should be in the area during the Super Bowl in case of emergencies. It is also important to arrange for a housekeeper to clean up before and after your guests' stay. They may also be able to serve as your emergency contact if you decide to go out of town that weekend.

You may not own a home in Tampa, but that doesn't mean you can't get a piece of the Super Bowl pie. Even short-term rentals in the surrounding areas-- like St. Petersburg or Brandon-- will likely attract football fans. A word of caution: Don't forget to verify your local short-term rental restrictions and make sure you're playing by all the rules on game day. A little time and energy will garner trustworthy renters excited about football.

English Channel - Business Women's Guide to Fashion

European style is always fast forward, innovative, modern, elegant and classy. Especially in regards to British fashion houses and famous designers that showcase artful clothes for couture or ready to wear ensembles. British women are known for the elevated taste in fashion and style. They tend to lean more towards the conservative, classic (and sometimes modern), fresh, clean and elegant approach to dressing. You can expect to see British business women in tailored clothes with accessories that accent their outfits rather than dominate it. Now women from around the world can mirror their British counterparts without having to cross over the pond!

Listed below are tips that stylish, professional women can instantly implement into their wardrobe and channel their British style diva.

In the Trenches

Trench coats are a staple to any outerwear collection. They are versatile, classic and stylish for any outfit for any profession. Students, business women, lawyers, doctors, artists etc. can wear trench coats that blend into their style profiles. Trench coats are no longer being made in the classic khaki colors as from the days of old. Many clothing designers and retail companies are adding a punch of color to this classic piece with blacks, bright primary colors and even patterned prints. The shape of trench coats are also evolving. Women can purchase this outerwear in a cropped version, or in three-quarter length sleeves. Either way, trench coats are definitely here to stay.

Queen of Diamonds

Argyles are no longer reserved for your grand uncle or the finest golfers on the greens. They are being incorporated into almost every aspect of women's clothes and accessories. Besides the classic argyle vest, this fun pattern is being used for skirts, dresses, sweaters, socks, pins and handbags. Argyles also look dynamic with different textures such as silk, cotton, wool and velvet. It is usually worn in the day but can easily transition into the night with pearl accessories and sparkling accents. Argyles can also be paired perfectly with different patterns such as plaids, tweeds, pin stripes and even polka dots. The sky is the limit to the combination that can be created.

Tall Women's Clothing - From Work to Play in Style

Women who are very tall often discover that looking stylish and pulled together is sometimes a very hard task to manage. However, with some good tips and suggestions it is possible to still look great and pulled together no matter where you are planning to go. While some women resort to hiring a stylist to help then keep their image pulled together it is not necessary if you follow some guidelines.

First, avoid shirts that do not extend at least to your hip line. If the shirt is too short and does not extend to at least the natural waistline it can cause you to look overly tall and quite unnatural. Shirts that extend to at least the natural waistline help provide a connected and pulled together appearance.

Avoid pants that are too short. While finding pants that are the appropriate length may not be easy, it is well worth the effort because otherwise you can look sloppy or unprofessional. If you choose to wear shorts, then always ensure that the shorts are not too long. If you are very tall an appropriately lengthen pair of shorts can make you look stunning.

Tall women should also avoid wearing high heels that are more than 3" tall. While extremely tall shoes are often quite trendy and stylish they also have the misfortune of making an extremely tall woman appear as if she is a giant rather than stylish. To avoid this look for similar shoes that are a bit shorter in height so that you are able to still look stylish and trendy without seeming as if you are overly tall.

Another important consideration that you should be careful about is the fact that finding appropriately fitting clothes for a very tall woman is not always easy. To help make things easier and ensure that you are not looking frumpy or unprofessional it is often a wise decision to seek out stores that are geared specifically towards tall women. A store that simply stocks a few pieces of tall women's clothing is not going to have the options available that a store geared towards tall women will offer.

A Review of Banana Republic Clothing

There's no denying that fashion plays a huge role in modern society. It doesn't matter where you live, the current trends and styles are sure to be in your community. You simply can't escape them. You may not conform to wearing them, but they'll still be beamed into your home right through your TV set. Banana Republic clothing is a great example of what I mean. Our society gets absolutely exercised over whatever is the latest and coolest trend. We love to look nice, and many of us will pay a pretty penny to do so. It's just in our nature.

Banana Republic clothing is a division of Gap Inc. in case you didn't realize it. I was out shopping for jeans in the Gap this weekend or a lovely young lady came to help me out. She spoke of Banana Republic, which baffled me. Was she really talking up a competitor? No, not quite. They're actually resides a working relationship between the Banana Republic, Gap, and Old Navy. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that there are in cahoots. They are different price ranges for different shopping audiences by extension they appeal to everyone across the economic stratus. It's a pretty smart way to do business I think. That's probably why they've been in business for so many years.

I first noticed Banana Republic clothing when I was getting ready to do a photo shoot. I needed some sharp looking clothes that look really good in front of the camera. The photographer mentioned Banana Republic to so I went over and took a look. I was a bit surprised, but I really liked what I saw. If you're going for a kind of up-beat, high fashion look in a modern world, Banana Republic clothing is just the ticket. Whether many of us males will be honest enough to admit it or not, we also liked to look fashionable. There's no doubt about it, that the ladies love guys that dress well. Women go out of their way to look nice, why would they want a PC with a slap. It's pretty universal actually. They will tell you that a shmo is a tuxedo looks a lot nicer than a shmo in a torn pair of jeans and a dirty T-shirt.

My wife also loves Banana Republic clothing. It offers her a nice business-sheik look for her profession. I have no idea what that means, but that's what she told me. It can get a bit pricey for some items, but considering the costs at some of the other clothing stores that she frequents, I'd say it's really not so bad after all.

You can easily see for yourself by going for a quick browse through Nordstrom's or Guess. Looking nice nowadays can be a costly endeavor. It really doesn't matter if you're a man or woman, you may find a style right for you in Banana Republic. They cater quite nicely to both sides of the gender stew. The clothing is suited for those in a business atmosphere, or those who are interested in looking chic for a night out on the town. Whatever your style, you'll likely find something exciting in Banana Republic.

Is the Internet the Saviour of Women's Clothing?

We all need clothes. Whether you agree or not, there can be few people in few places who can actually get by without a wardrobe of clothes, full or not.

In this day and age, our clothes play a massive role in shaping our identity and more to the point, our clothes shape the persona that we present to the public.

Whilst we may think that we pursue individuality when we shop, in reality, we are very easily led and boringly predictable. When it comes to women's clothing, most of the high street retailers would have you believe that there is an endless choice on offer when unfortunately, the opposite is true.

What the high street offers is a very small selection of styles and sizes, and because they all chase exactly the same next big thing in fashion, much of what's on offer is repeated up and down the high street.

For real variety and real choice, there is only one real alternative to the high street.: The Internet.

Not only does the Internet house the virtual stores of the high street, it also showcases some of the most innovative and exciting styles and trends of the day. If you want woman's clothing that can really reflect your personality and identity, then you're unlikely to find it in mainstream central, or the high street as I'd prefer to call it.

Woman's clothing has finally come of age on the Internet with a truly liberating number of designers and retailers who are able to offer more daring styles and design and dare I say, more realistic sizes to enable more of us to better define our identities and personalities through the clothes that we wear. Whether you're tall or short, narrow or wide, and whether you're comfortable with who you are and how you look there is a place you can finally shop that will tick all of your boxes, without the demands of a trip into town. Long live the Internet.

Happy Shopping.

If you're in search of a fashion identity and the high street just doesn't fit or isn't varied enough, then Sam Benton suggests the benefit of shopping online, and what you can expect from an online women's clothing store in particular.
